
If you follow me on twitter, which you probably don’t, then you’ve noticed that I’ve been affected by someone. A woman. I’m usually one to keep these things to myself, but I have the sudden urge to express my feelings on the internet.

I cook on the regular. But this week I prepared a meal of 7 courses for a friend. A really really beautiful friend. She means quite a bit to me and I cooked her a meal straight from my heart to my brain to the plate. I’ve never cooked food with so much thought and emotion before. When chefs say they ‘tell stories through food,’ I now actually understand them.

I usually cook food from the heart to begin with, but when the idea of romance became a part of the recipe…my plates changed. I have never made dishes more beautiful before in my life. Food with so much care and thought infused with technique and execution…I have never been so attentive to detail. My mindset was ‘impress the girl. impress the girl. impress the girl.’ Her overall effect on my has been culinarily profound.
